On Tuesday I was proud to present my Good Citizenship Award to The Pathway School student, Aubrey Stamm. Nominated by her teachers, Aubrey exemplifies character, scholarship, leadership, and acceptance of responsibility in her studies and extracurricular activities.

Tomorrow begins PRIDE Month!
A month-long celebration of love and identity, Pride serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for equality and acceptance. This century has seen both immense progress and alarming setbacks in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights but in this month, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering a society that puts love, empathy, and respect above all else. I’m hopeful Pennsylvania will continue this march for progress by having the Senate pass HB 300, The Fairness Act, and deliver it to the Governor for his signature.
Pennsylvania is proud of our LGBTQ+ communities and I stand with you.

National Gun Violence Awareness Day
|
Friday, June 2nd is National Gun Violence Awareness Day or #WearOrange Day to show your support to end gun violence.
According to Everytown for Gun Safety, 120 Americans are killed every day from a firearm. As of this writing, the Gun Violence Archive has recorded over 17,000 Americans killed by gun violence. With a Democratic majority in the PA House, we were able to bring important gun reform legislation to the floor of the House including HB 714, Background Checks for Firearms (that had bipartisan support) and HB 1018, Extreme Risk Protection Orders. I am hopeful the Senate will take these bills up for action and pass needed gun reform in Pennsylvania.
I encourage you to wear orange this Friday and show your support to end gun violence.
