Surrey Heath News
Frimley Park Hospital: Last week, we received fantastic news about Frimley Park Hospital. A brand new Frimley Park Hospital will be built using funding from the Government's New Hospital Programme, and you can read more about the hard work that has been undertaken to secure this huge win for Surrey Heath here.
Service Family Accommodation: On 17th May, I met representatives from SSEN together with Cllr Paul Deach regarding connecting Service Family Accommodation in Deepcut to the power network.
Business Breakfast: It was a delight to have the opportunity to host my second Business Breakfast of the year at Windlesham Golf Club on 19th May. My thanks to everyone who came along. My Business Breakfast Club meets quarterly and is a great opportunity to strengthen ties with local businesses and Conservative Councillors, and if you would like to join or find out more information, please email: [email protected]
Hope Hub Camberley: At the beginning of May, I visited The Hope Hub in Camberley with Esther Dijkstra, the South East Ambassador for the Lloyds Bank Foundation. We met Mags Mercer, the dedicated Chief Executive, and her brilliant team behind this important charity, which gives such incredible support to those who are unfortunately facing homelessness in Surrey Heath. The Hope Hub is a fantastic organisation and I am hugely grateful to the Lloyds Bank Foundation for the generous support it has provide to The Hope Hub these past few years, awarding more that £115,000 in funding.
Valley End C of E Infant School: I was very grateful to the School Council at Valley End C of E Infant School and Head Teacher, Mrs Harper Cole, for taking the time to speak to me about the problems with traffic and parking outside their school. I wrote to Surrey County Council in April about this matter and was encouraged to hear that certain measures are due to be taken, but following the further concerns raised by the School Council, I have been in touch with SCC again to ask what more can be done to make drop-off and pick-up times safer for Valley End pupils.
Harry's Hat: I was delighted to see Caroline Coates from Harry’s Hydrocephalus Awareness Trust again this month at one of my surgeries in Windlesham for an update on the progress of the Trust’s brilliant ‘Get-A-Head’ campaign. The campaign is seeking to spread awareness amongst new parents about the importance of the relevant health and wellbeing checks needed to detect signs of hydrocephalus as early as possible.
It is an incredibly important campaign, and you can find out more here. I have also written to the Health Secretary about this fantastic charity.
Ballard Court update: In April, I spoke to the Chairman and Treasurer of the Ballard Court Residents Association (BCRA) regarding the significant increase to residents’ rent and service charges, as well as their wish for Accent, their Housing Association, to grant a Letter of Recognition to the group, which would formalise its status as a Residents Association. I wrote to Accent following our conversation to raise these understandable concerns, and the Chairman and Treasurer of the BCRA came to my constituency surgery on May 12th to update me on the situation. I am pleased to learn that Accent will be granting the Letter of Recognition, and has agreed to meet the BCRA to discuss their concerns regarding the increase in rent and service charges.
NHS Frimley: It was really helpful to have a catch-up with the Chief Executive and the Director for Children and Young People at NHS Frimley. I was encouraged by the work they are continuing to do to secure better healthcare services for Surrey Heath residents, and I look forward to a further catch-up soon.
