Friend,

In the one year since the massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde,
Texas, at least 600 mass shootings have taken place in America.(1)

600.

And assault-style weapons accounted for 75% of the people injured or
killed in those shootings.(2)

It’s a fact: Our children were safer when an assault weapons ban was in
effect. California has an assault weapons ban, but not one of the states
surrounding us does, so weapons flow easily across the border -- which
accounted for the spate of mass shootings in Monterey earlier in the
year.(3) We’re calling on ALL states to pass a ban, now.

As of 2020, gun violence is now the leading cause of death for U.S.
children and teens.(4)

It’s a national tragedy. As President Biden said this week, “How many more
parents will live their worst nightmare before we stand up to the gun
lobby?”(5)

Congress is completely failing to act, due to Republican obstruction. We
need the states to step up.

Right now, 10 states have banned the sale of assault weapons, and we need
the other 40 to follow suit. Courage California is joining a coalition of
groups across the country to demand that states protect our children and
ban these dangerous guns.

Thank you for joining the fight.
