NEW resource to help students get their financial aid in California, plus resources to consider options beyond DACA.

** MAY 2023 NEWSLETTER đź“°
------------------------------------------------------------
Hi John,

My name is Grace Yeo and I’m here to share the latest updates from Immigrants Rising.

** New Resource
------------------------------------------------------------

This month, we published a new resource: Championing Equity: Systemwide AB 540 FAQ ([link removed]) which was co-created by senior leaders, practitioners, and undocumented individuals from Immigrants Rising and the CCC, CSU, and UC systems. This FAQ was built not only to be a tool to better guide students through the eligibility requirements and process of receiving their financial aid packages, but also to increase alignment in how AB 540 is interpreted and implemented across higher education campuses and systems. Click here to hear from the creators of this resource. ([link removed])

** DACA Update
------------------------------------------------------------

Immigrants Rising will update our community as soon as there are any new changes to share about the DACA program. Meanwhile, USCIS continues to accept DACA renewal and Advance Parole applications.

We have heard that there may be inaccurate information circulating about DACA. To hear the latest updates regarding Texas federal court’s DACA case, we recommend following trustworthy sources like United We Dream ([link removed]) .

The uncertainty around DACA and lack of immigration reform on the horizon has many of us—myself included—feeling anxious and frustrated. While we wait for yet another decision that will affect the livelihoods of many of us, we encourage all undocumented people to explore options beyond DACA ([link removed]) . We will continue to create opportunities to thrive and reclaim our basic rights as human beings regardless of status.
Here are additional resources that may be of interest to you:

* Getting a PERM; An Employment-based Green Card ([link removed])
* Common Immigration Options for Survivors of Trauma ([link removed])
* Guide for Undocumented Individuals Traveling in the U.S. ([link removed]) (in Spanish ([link removed]) )
