Hello Friend,

Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.

Stopping the Deadly Flow of Fentanyl

Image

The Biden Administration's failure to secure our southern border has created a deadly flow of drugs coming across our border. Fentanyl is now the number one cause of death among adults 18-49.

This unprecedented crisis MUST be stopped. That's why my House colleagues and I acted to address this dangerous situation by passing H.R. 467, the HALT Fentanyl Act. This measure permanently classifies fentanyl-related substances (FRS) in Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act. This gives law enforcement needed tools to keep these extremely lethal drugs off America's streets. It also ensures practitioners can research fentanyl-related substances so we can better understand their effects on people's health.

Protecting Truckers from Oppressive Regulations

Image

Last December, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) implemented a costly regulation to require big rig trucks to meet extreme emission reductions standards starting in 2027. This overreaching measure would drive small trucking companies out of business. The EPA's own estimates say their emissions standards for heavy-duty trucks could cost more than $8,000 per semi-truck. Amid skyrocketing inflation and supply chain chaos, hardworking Americans cannot afford to shell out thousands of dollars to satisfy President Biden's Green New Deal agenda. That's why the House passed S.J. Res. 11, which would reverse these new burdensome trucking regulations, protect small business truckers and prevent more inflation and supply chain issues.

Last week, I joined a bipartisan group of fellow veterans in Congress to honor fallen veterans by washing the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. America owes a tremendous debt of gratitude to all who gave their lives to protect our nation and safeguard our freedoms. Click here to learn more.
