1. Confronting the climate crisis one frontline clinic at a time

Frontline clinics that serve the most vulnerable in communities face challenges that come with climate change. The Center for Climate, Health and the Global Environment at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (Harvard Chan C-CHANGE) and Americares have collaborated to help protect people on the frontlines of the climate crisis with the Climate Resilience for Frontline Clinics project. This toolkit will meet the needs of patients, providers and administrators and will prepare us for the climate events that impact our health on a daily basis. 

2. Bomb-proofing lifesaving medicine in Ukraine

When the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv came under attack in 2022, health professionals knew they had to save not only lives but also medicine. Americares nonprofit partner Mission Kharkiv went searching for a bomb-proof shelter specifically for oncology medicine, including medication for chemotherapy, which needs to be stored in a cold-chain-controlled environment to be effective. 

3. Mental health is health

May is U.S. National Mental Health Month, and here at Americares, we firmly believe that good mental health is absolutely fundamental to overall health and well-being. That's why we are so devoted to providing mental health and psychosocial support for health care workers, first responders and disaster survivors.
