Mar-a-Lago, FL — Amid a catastrophic failure to launch, Ron DeSantis announced his candidacy with "Great American Comeback," a phrase stolen from President Donald J. Trump's 2020 State of the Union address.

 

Perhaps, the DeSantis communications staff was pre-occupied attempting to extinguish the flames of their candidate’s announcement to come up with their own message.

Mar-a-Lago, FL— A  recent poll from NBC/YouGov  finds President Trump is the strongest candidate to defeat Joe Biden, and is the strongest Republican candidate to handle the economy, foreign policy, immigration, healthcare, taxes, and crime—by incredibly wide margins.

 

The survey, conducted May 17-19, found that 59% of GOP voters believe President Trump is the leading candidate to defeat Joe Biden in a 2024 general election matchup, compared to only 27% saying the same of Ron DeSantis.

 

Among Republicans, President Trump is the strongest candidate to handle every single issue included in the survey.

President Trump saved millions of lives, opposed mandates, and embraced the Federalist system to allow States to make the decisions best for their people. Ron DeSantis continues to lie about his record, as he personally oversaw mass vaccinations and imposed radical lockdowns.

 

DeSantis  cracked down  on Florida business that didn’t practice social distancing, 2+ months after President Trump stated, “ the cure cannot be worse than the disease .”

 

DeSantis praised the Covid vaccine’s lifesaving potential, stating, “ These vaccines are saving lives .” Adding, “They are reducing mortality.”

 

According to Christina Pushaw, DeSantis “ speaks positively of vaccines in every public appearance (1600+ times) .”

 

In 2021, it was reported that  DeSantis’ top donor invested  in a monoclonal antibody treatment sold by Regeneron, which was then promoted by DeSantis.

 

In December 2020, DeSantis tweeted his support for the  incredible potential of Operation Warp Speed .

 

 

 

DeSantis’ Real Record On Covid

 

On March 2, 2020, DeSantis issued an executive order directing state Surgeon General Scott Rivkees to  declare a public health emergency in Florida  due to Covid.

 

On March 17, 2020, DeSantis issued an Executive Order that would  reduce density and crowds in restaurants, bars, nightclubs and beaches . He also declared that  Universities should switch to remote  learning for the rest of the spring semester.

 

On March 20, 2020,  DeSantis closed restaurants and gyms . A few days later,  DeSantis asked President Trump to declare Florida a major federal disaster area .

 

DeSantis also  ordered Floridians to quarantine for 14 days . DeSantis set up  checkpoints to quarantine travelers who arrived in Florida.

 

DeSantis  kept open abortion clinics , despite attempts by pro-life groups to close them.

 

DeSantis praised President Trump’s record in Florida during Covid stating that, “ The president's been great for Florida .”

 

In April 2020, DeSantis  praised Trump’s efforts in helping him secure masks  for residents of Florida.

 

DeSantis touted President Trump’s federal loan program  that helped support small business during the pandemic.

 

He also praised President Trump as “outstanding” during the pandemic.

 

On April 18, 2020, DeSantis  ordered all schools to be closed  for the remainder of the year.

 

On April 25, 2020, DeSantis  said he was in no rush to lift restrictions  on Florida’s businesses.

 

In June 2020,  DeSantis urged Florida residents to wear masks while in public .

 

In July 2020,  DeSantis extended the state of emergency  in Florida by an additional 60 days.

 

In September 2020 , DeSantis was seen wearing a mask  outside while greeting President Trump at the airport in Florida.

 

In October 2020,  DeSantis praised  President Trump for the federal government’s response to the pandemic.

 

He also praised Trump’s response to Covid  during an October rally in Tampa.

 

Despite DeSantis’ Attempts To Distance Himself From Fauci, He Praised Him During The Pandemic

 

In March 2020, DeSantis tweeted , “Dr. Birx and Dr. Fauci agree; there is too high a risk that travelers from the NY Tri-State Area have been exposed to #COVID19. I appreciate their support for my executive order requiring such individuals flying into FL to self-quarantine for 14 days.”

 

DeSantis also shared a Covid guide  written by Fauci  and said, “Here is a useful overview of what we know regarding #COVID19, courtesy of Doctors Fauci, Lane and Redfield.”

Ron DeSantis Voted To Raise Your Taxes

 

In Congress, DeSantis cosponsored the so-called “Fair Tax Act” three times—in  2013 , in  2015 , and in  2017 — which called for a new 23% national sales tax.

 

The Tax Policy Center found that Ron DeSantis’ “Fair Tax Act,” would have  raised taxes  on working, middle-class families.

 

Under DeSantis’ plan,  90% of earners  would see a tax hike.

 

DeSantis’ proposed “Fair Tax” would have added  trillions  to deficits over 10 years.

Ron DeSantis Voted To Outsource American Jobs

 

In 2014, DeSantis  voted to block  companies who wish to bring back American jobs from claiming a tax credit worth 20% of expenses related to moving back to the United States.

 

That same year, DeSantis  voted to allow  companies that outsource American jobs to still receive lucrative government contracts. President Trump has  promised to block any company which outsources jobs to China from receiving government contracts.

 

In Congress, Ron DeSantis opposed President Trump’s America First trade agenda, which leveled the playing field for American workers and businesses and forced China to buy more American made goods.

 

DeSantis’ Disastrous Trade Record

 

In  2015 , DeSantis voted to grant President Obama  fast-track authority  for trade bills submitted to congress, including TPP.

 

In  2015 , DeSantis  voted  against treating currency undervaluation as an illegal subsidy, which would have put China under direct scrutiny for currency manipulation.

 

Unlike DeSantis, President Trump  called out China  for taking advantage of the United States through currency manipulation. 

 

In 2018, DeSantis claimed, “I’m not somebody that advocates tariffs.”

 

DeSantis Has Made It Clear That He Won’t Protect The United States On The World Stage

 

In  2014 , DeSantis voted for legislation authorizing $70 million in aid to Ukraine.

 

In 2015, DeSantis was  critical  of the Obama administration for not sending lethal aid to Ukraine.

 

In March 2023, DeSantis characterized Russia’s war in Ukraine as a  “territorial dispute,”  but later clarified and called Putin a  war criminal .

 

President Trump Kept His Promises In Iowa And Delivered For Farmers

 

Under President Trump, he kept his promises to farmers in Iowa. This month, President Trump announced support from over  150 elected and grassroots leaders  across all 99 counties in Iowa.

Under President Trump’s leadership he authorized ethanol producers to sell  E15 year-round  and allowed higher-ethanol gasoline to be distributed from existing pumps at filling stations.

 

Sen. Grassley  praised President Trump’s ethanol efforts stating, “We probably wouldn’t be where we are without Trump’s personal involvement in it.”

 

President Trump also  worked to allow  E15 ethanol to be sold using E10 pumps.

 

In 2020, the Trump Administration announced the investment of over  $9.3 million  in grants to Iowa to increase ethanol and biodiesel sales.

 

As a result of the agreement President Trump negotiated, Japan agreed to over  90 percent of U.S. food  and agricultural imports into Japan will either be duty free or receive preferential tariff access.

 

Thanks to President Trump’s strong trade policies, in 2020, China made its largest ever purchase of  U.S. corn , valued at $325 million.

 

President Trump rebuilt and invested in rural America.  In 2019 , President Trump signed an Executive Order on Modernizing the Regulatory Framework for Agricultural Biotechnology Products, which brought innovative new technologies to market in American farming and agriculture.

 

President Trump’s historic Tax Cuts and Jobs Act  protected family farmers  from the estate tax. President Trump’s historic tax cuts,  virtually repealed the death tax , allowing families to keep their farms without penalty.

 

In 2020, President Trump invested  $86 million  in rural broadband service in eight states including Iowa. President Trump also  modernized the Department of Agriculture’s biotechnology regulations  to put America in the lead to develop new technologies.

 

President Trump authorized  $28 billion in aid  for farmers who have been subjected to unfair trade practices – fully funded by the tariffs paid by China.

                                                                             

In 2018, President Trump  signed a sweeping new Farm Bill  into law, which provided support and stability to farmers, expanded crop insurance, and doubled how much farmers can borrow.

 

President Trump stood up for America’s farmers by negotiating fairer, freer, and more reciprocal trade deals that removed barriers and opened markets for American farmers.

 

In 2020, President Trump signed the  United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA)  into law. Under the agreement, Canada agreed to expand market access for American dairy, egg, and poultry producers.

 

In addition, President Trump, successfully negotiated more than  50 agreements  with countries around the world to increase foreign market access and boost exports of American agriculture products, supporting more than 1 million American jobs.

President Trump has  promised to cancel  every Biden policy that is brutalizing our farmers. 

President Trump will  appoint a special team  to attack the high price of fertilizer, which has reached record highs under Biden.

- It will explain the clear meaning of the 14th Amendment, that U.S. Citizenship extends only to those both born in AND “subject to the jurisdiction” of the United States.

 

 

- It will make clear that going forward, the children of illegal aliens will not be granted automatic citizenship, and should not be issued passports, Social Security numbers, or be eligible for certain taxpayer funded welfare benefits. 

 

- It will direct federal agencies to require that at least one parent be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident for their future children to become automatic U.S. citizens.

- Through “Birth Tourism,”  tens of thousands  of foreign nationals fraudulently enter the U.S. each year during the final weeks of their pregnancies for the sole purpose of obtaining U.S. citizenship for their child. 

 

- Under the current erroneous interpretation, the children of these foreign nationals are then eligible to  receive  a host of government benefits reserved for U.S. citizens, including a myriad of welfare programs and taxpayer funded healthcare, as well as chain migration and the right to vote.

PRESIDENT TRUMP’S EXECUTIVE ORDER WILL FINALLY ENSURE THAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NO LONGER ADHERES TO A PATENTLY INCORRECT INTERPRETATION OF THE 14TH AMENDMENT:

 

- Constitutional scholars have shown for decades that granting automatic citizenship to the children of illegal aliens born in the United States is based on a patently incorrect interpretation of the 14th Amendment. 

 

- The  14th Amendment  extends federal citizenship to “[a]ll persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” 

 

- The purpose of the 14th Amendment had nothing to do with the citizenship of immigrants, let alone the citizenship of the children of illegal aliens. Its purpose was to extend citizenship to people newly freed from slavery, whose status was left in question after the infamous case  Dred Scott v. Sandford . 

 

- The framers of the 14th Amendment made  clear  that “persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens [or] who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers” are not “subject to the jurisdiction” of the U.S.

 

- For years, open-borders proponents have deliberately misinterpreted “subject to the jurisdiction” in the 14th Amendment to mean merely subject to American law, which is the case for anyone physically present in the United States.  

 

- This twisting of the amendment's meaning and intent has caused America to become one of the few countries in the world to extend citizenship to the children of illegal aliens even if both parents are not citizens nor even legally present in the United States, thus diluting the privileges that Americans are entitled to.

 

BIDEN’S OPEN BORDER POLICY IS A NATIONAL SECURITY, ECONOMIC, AND HUMANITARIAN DISASTER: 

 

- A record number of illegal aliens crossed the southern border in both 2021 and 2022. In the official numbers alone, there have been over 6.6 million  illegal   crossings  since Biden took office—but the true numbers are much higher. 

 

- Biden has deliberately made his border disaster worse by abolishing Title 42 this month, allowing for an additional  400,000  illegal aliens from all corners of the globe to pour across our border each month. 

 

- This invasion is wasting our resources, lowering our citizens’ wages, poisoning our communities with lethal drugs, and threatening our national security. 

 

- Illegal immigration  reduces  American workers’ wages by $99 to $118 billion each year, with the burden falling most heavily on low-wage workers. 

 

- Thousands of pounds of deadly drugs are pouring across our borders, poisoning over 100,000 of our citizens each year. Fueled in large part by Biden’s border disaster, fentanyl poisoning has become the leading cause of death for Americans between the ages of 18 and 45.

 

- Nearly 100 known or suspected terrorists were  arrested  at the border last year—more than three times the total for the previous five years combined. Border arrests of illegal alien murderers  increased  by over 1,900% and arrests of illegal alien drug traffickers increased by 480% since 2020.

 

- Biden’s open border policy has also created a humanitarian crisis, with migrant deaths reaching a record  high  last year and human smuggling arrests  up  82% since 2014.

Joe Biden has launched an illegal foreign invasion of our country allowing a record number of illegal aliens to storm across our borders. From all over the world, they came. Under Biden's current policies even though these millions of illegal border crossers have entered the country unlawfully, all of their future children will become automatic U.S. citizens. Can you imagine?

 

They'll be eligible for welfare, taxpayer-funded healthcare, the right to vote, chain migration, and countless other government benefits, many of which will also profit the illegal alien parents. This policy is a reward for breaking the laws of the United States and is obviously a magnet, helping draw the flood of illegals across our borders. 

 

They come by the millions and millions and millions. They come from mental institutions, they come from jails-- prisoners, some of the toughest, meanest people you'll ever see. The United States is among the only countries in the world that says that even if neither parent is a citizen nor even lawfully in the country, their future children are automatic citizens the moment the parents trespass onto our soil. As has been laid out by many scholars, this current policy is based on a historical myth, and a willful misinterpretation of the law by the open borders advocates. There aren't that many of them around. 

 

It's an amazing. Who wants this? Who wants to have prisoners coming into our country? Who wants to have people who are very sick coming into our country? People from mental institutions coming into our country? And come they will, they're coming by the thousands, by the tens of thousands. 

 

As part of my plan to secure the border on Day One of my new term in office, I will sign an executive order making clear to federal agencies that under the correct interpretation of the law, going forward, the future children of illegal aliens will not receive automatic U.S. citizenship. It's things like this that bring millions of people to our country, and they enter our country illegally. My policy will choke off a major incentive for continued illegal immigration, deter more migrants from coming, and encourage many of the aliens Joe Biden has unlawfully let into our country to go back to their home countries.

 

They must go back. Nobody could afford this. Nobody could do this. And even morally it's so wrong. My order will also end their unfair practice known as birth tourism, where hundreds of thousands of people from all over the planet squat in hotels for their last few weeks of pregnancy to illegitimately and illegally obtain US citizenship for the child, often to later exploit chain migration to jump the line and get green cards for themselves and their family members. 

 

It's a practice that's so horrible, and so egregious, but we let it go forward. At least one parent will have to be a citizen or a legal resident in order to qualify. We will secure our borders and we will restore our sovereignty. Starting on Day One, our country will be great again. Our country will be a country again. We'll have borders, we'll have proper education, and we'll put America First.
