🦹🏼♂️If you’ve been following the thoughts & musings of PowerPAC’s fearless leader Andy Wong, you know about the villains we’ve been tracking in our ongoing efforts to keep the American sleep idiom from turning into a nightmare. These are your basic vanilla billionaire types: (mostly) filthy rich, white men, who care about nothing except cold dark money in offshore accounts. The short-list of villainaires is as follows: Leonard Leo, Barry Seid, The Uihlein family, Peter Thiel, the Koch brothers, & Harlan Crow.
🟤These liver spots on the body of Democracy spread their re(vil)sources like tentacles. Diagnosis? This is already Stage 4 folks. They’ve metastasized into SCOTUS, Congress, school boards, state legislatures & city councils. The billionaires & the conservatives who serve the billionaires want The Iron Throne, painted gold of course — & they have henchmen & lackeys doing their bidding to make sure we stay fighting each other instead of them.
🎿The culture of America has shifted dramatically since the villains gained access to the highest office in the country via their Orange Stooge. This opened the door for power-grabbers, conspiracy theorists & big lie creators like Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert, Ron DeSantis, Kari Lake, Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, & hundreds of other MAGA legislators across the country. American culture today, from any other place in the universe, is now a shining example of how to criminalize women’s healthcare, of dissolving voting rights, of turning Christianity into a means of hating your neighbor, & letting Proud Boys govern how the queer community is treated. It’s like we're skiing uphill. We could all use a lift, ya know?
🇺🇸This IS America. Absurd is at a modern-day zenith, & that absurdity has gained inordinate power BECAUSE this Repressionist Movement was planned (we’re talking decades) & paid for by white men so rich that they have been able to recreate with (some brand new terrifying expansion packs) an America where under the Republican banner, no behavior is disqualifying for office. The chaos gives them power.
😥So that’s the work. Every day we think, plan, & act to make sure that the villains don’t force us back into the 1950s where women only had babies & cooked dinner, where voters of color didn’t exist, where Jim Crow laws reigned, & the queer community was criminalized.
