Dear Community Partner,

Most college students from low- and moderate-income households look to Pell Grants and student loans to cover the costs of attending college. However, there are alternatives to student loans that anyone who can’t pay for college outright should know about.

Join Consumer Action for part two of our train-the-trainer series on student loan debt. During this free 90-minute webinar, we will explore alternatives to student loans, resources for the student borrower, and loan forgiveness programs for indebted students.

Kate Hoffman, founder and CEO of Earn to Learn; Robyn Smith, of counsel to National Consumer Law Center; and Shannon Vasconcelos, financial aid consultant, and Amanda Jarvis, customer care manager, both of Bright Horizons College Coach, will headline the webinar. Join us to explore:

How to identify, apply for, and secure college scholoarhips
Education savings plans
Earn-to-learn programs
Grants, work-study, and matched savings plans
College scholarships for DACA and undocumented students
Student loan forgiveness programs and how to apply
Loan forgiveness options (whether private student loans can be forgiven, and information about the Biden-Harris Administration’s Student Debt Relief Plan)

AFC professionals can earn 1.5 CEUs for participation in this free 90-minute webinar.

Click here to register for the “Alternatives to Student Loans" webinar (part two of the series), on Wednesday, May 31, at 10:00 a.m. PT (11:00 a.m. MT; noon CT; 1:00 p.m. ET).

If you missed and want to catch up on part one, "Student Loans: Beyond borrowing," view the recording here.

If you have questions for our guest speakers, please send them to me by May 26. We want to hear from you! Also, please email me any questions regarding the webinar.

We look forward to your participation.

Sincerely,
