Hey comrades!
Don’t want armed cops in public schools?? Neither do we. This Monday, June 5th at 5:30pm, join Denver DSA + community leaders and sign up to speak at school board public comment to tell the Denver Public Schools School Board to vote against bringing police officers back into schools!!
After three years of police-free schools, the DPS School Board will vote this June on returning armed officers to DPS campuses, and we need EVERYONE in the community – even if you aren’t directly connected to the district – to come out and speak against it. If we don’t, we risk allowing the school board to undo their transformative 2020 decision to remove cops from schools – and return to a status quo where students are harassed, criminalized and brutalized by the police.
All you need to do to speak is sign up here by THURSDAY AT 5PM and prepare a 1-3 minute speech in opposition to armed police in schools – then show up in-person on June 5th at 1860 Lincoln Street to deliver it. Don’t know what to say? You can check out our toolkit and talking points here. But simply showing up and speaking will go a long way to ensuring that we keep cops out of DPS schools.
Together we can break the school to prison pipeline and police power!
In solidarity,
Denver DSA
