This last WKND at Sheridan, I was planning on preaching a sermon about Peter's first sermon in Acts 2.
But, I could not get beyond Acts 2:14 with the question... WHY?
Why Peter?
Why Simon Peter actually?
-Why did Jesus choose Simon Peter to be the one to start building His Church with?
-Why did Jesus three times in a row tell Peter to feed His sheep?
-Why was it Peter that preached the sermon on the Day of Pentecost that gave birth to the Church?
-Why was it Peter that opened the door for Gentiles to receive the Gospel?
-Why was Peter the first among equals in regards to the apostles?
The answer I found was that Simon Peter was COMPLICATED... just like me and just like you.
This sermon, I know will bless you.
In each of us there is a Simon and there is a Peter.
