My name is Graeme and I am the Executive Director of American Muckrakers PAC.

I’ve never liked political emails with false urgency but I’m writing to you because our lawsuit against Lauren Boebert is currently facing a tipping point.

In case you aren’t familiar, during the 2022 midterms we conducted a series of fact-based investigations into Lauren Boebert’s campaign, her “policy” positions, and her many hypocrisies. These investigations went supersonic viral online and in the media.

In response, Boebert hit the right wing media talk show circuit, going on shows like Fox’s The Sean Hannity Show claiming what we published were lies, we knew they were lies, and we published them anyway. Then she threatened the PAC, our leadership, and our donors with a billion dollar defamation lawsuit.

Boebert’s suit never materialized, likely because she was counseled that she’d have no grounds for a defamation suit as everything we’ve released is verifiable as fact and most of our sourcing is recorded audio.

However, we are now pursuing a defamation lawsuit against her. As you may know, we are in the process of drafting our own complaint against Boebert, researching relevant law, and filing in a Colorado Court.

After we file our defamation lawsuit in Colorado, this case will not only bog Boebert down with a legal case she doesn’t want, but it will also require discovery, including a taped, under-oath deposition. We’ll have to ask the Judge to release the Boebert deposition transcript and video but she or he would likely grant our motion based upon the principle of being in “the public interest”.

We were planning to file the suit in April but because of additional research that was required in order to draft the complaint, we have been forced to push back our filing, dangerously close to the end of the statute of limitations.

With only several days left before the expiration of the statute of limitations, we are throwing every cent we raise into legal research, and a review of the complaint by several 1st Amendment specialist lawyers assisting our legal team. We’re damn sure not going to let Boebert’s delaying tactics nip this case in the bud and prevent it from seeing the light of day.

To ensure that we have enough money to shore up our case we’ve set the ambitious goal of raising $25,000 before the end of May. The funds raised will go directly towards our pursuit of Boebert in court and acquiring the best legal experts to go head-to-head with Boebert’s massive GOP-backed legal operation. We have a great legal team but we need to be ready for anything they throw at us, including a PR expert, private investigators, and other support team members.

We currently sit at just over $18,000 dollars raised. We are only about $7,000 away from our goal. I know we can get there if we push harder than we ever have before.
