Rushton Earns Critical-Care Nurses Honor
For lifelong work that has enhanced the care of critically ill patients and families, Cynda Rushton, PHD, MSN, RN, recieved the Marguerite Rodgers Kinney Award for a Distinguished Career from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. Rushton, professor and endowed chair at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, is an internationally recognized researcher in the areas of bioethics, ethics education, and the moral suffering of clinicians.

10 Teams To Begin J&J Innovation Fellowship
Ten two-person teams from health systems large and small, from Hawaii to New York and states between, have been chosen for the Johnson & Johnson Nurse Innovation Fellowship Program. Each team comprises two nurse leaders&mdash;one chief nursing officer or nurse executive and one other senior nurse leader from the same organization&mdash;who will work together to address a real-world challenge their health system is facing.

Reinhard Delivers Commencement Address at Rutgers


&ldquo;You will never need to search for meaning in your work. It will find you every day.&rdquo; Those were some of the words of wisdom delivered by Susan C. Reinhard, RN, PhD, FAAN, on May 18 to those graduating from the Rutgers University College of Nursing. Reinhard, who received her PhD in sociology from Rutgers, and is senior vice president and director of the AARP Public Policy Institute, and chief strategist of the Center to Champion Nursing in America and Family Caregiving initiatives.

Latino Community Practices &ldquo;Exercise as a Non-Pharmacologic Therapy&rdquo;
Some 32 percenti of older Latinos live an inactive lifestyle outside of work&mdash;the highest among all race/ethnicity groups&mdash;according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Helping change that is Adriana Perez, PhD, ANP-BC, FAAN, of Penn&rsquo;s School of Nursing, who helped design the clinical trial Tiempo Juntos Por Nuestra Salud&mdash;&ldquo;Time Together for Our Health.&rdquo; Perez is also a senior adviser to the Campaign&rsquo;s equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.

Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander Forum Online
Now online: a recording of the forum that brought together leaders, researchers, and representatives from professional organizations to discuss health equity for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. The National Academy of Medicine, the Asian American Pacific Islander Nurses Association (AAPINA), and the National Council of Asian Pacific Islander Physicians hosted the May 25 event, which included AAPINA president Jing Wang, PhD, MPH, RN, a member of the Campaign&rsquo;s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Steering Committee.

Resources Support #1 Future of Nursing Report Recommendation
National nursing organizations should create a shared agenda to create health equity: So reads the first of nine recommendations in the Future of Nursing 2020-2030 report. Now Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center grad students have brought together the resources to support the seven sub-recommendations of that overall goal, including eliminate racist policies, develop mechanisms for nurses&rsquo; health, and leverage expertise in care coordination.

To support research that identifies the systemic root causes of U.S. health inequities, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation invites applications for its Health Equity Scholars for Action 2023, research grants for those with terminal degrees and a position at an accredited school. Grants will be awarded &ldquo;to address the challenges that those from historically underrepresented backgrounds typically experience and help them overcome obstacles to earning tenure.&rdquo; Deadline: May 31.
