Nancy’s Nonsense is Out of Touch with Our Way of Life
Last week, the President shared with Congress and the American people during
his State of the Union address his vision for our great nation, highlighting
policies and proposals that will lead to greater opportunity and prosperity for
everyone. America’s economy is moving, unemployment is at record lows, tax
relief is working, the President is promoting life and preserving and
protecting the 2nd Amendment, and appointing nearly 190 conservative justices
to our federal courts.

In addition to laying out his policies, he also shared numerous stories of
great and heroic Americans who weave the very fabric of our great nation. It
was disappointing that Nancy Pelosi, as she sat right behind the President,
mocked those memorable and touching stories by ripping up her copy of his
speech. I share the President’s optimism for our country and its people and
recognize we are blessed to live in the greatest nation on earth. Pelosi’s
made-for-TV stunt was nothing more than acynical ploy to pander to her base

and was completely out of touch with our way of life.
Line 3 Replacement Project Would Ignite a Blue Collar Boom
During his State of the Union speech, the President referenced a “blue collar
boom” that I am proud to continually promote. Nowhere is that more evident than
with the Line 3 replacement project in Minnesota that would provide thousands
of jobs to our region while preserving our environment by utilizing 21st
century technology with state-of-the-art pipeline. Earlier this month, state
utility regulatorsapproved a revised environmental review

for the pipeline. The decision is a win-win! Let’s unleash the economic engine
and ignite this blue collar boom!
McCollum’s Anti-Mining Bill an Affront to Minnesotans
It never ceases to amaze me when extreme, out-of-touch Twin Cities politicians
impose their beliefs on all of us. Last week, I was proud to joinJason George
of the Local 49ers
<[link removed]>, who
testified before theHouse Natural Resources Committee
<[link removed]>
, voicing his strong opposition to a Betty McCollum bill that would ban
copper-nickel mining in northern Minnesota. I opened my remarks by quoting a
letter that former Rep. Jim Oberstar wrote in 1978 to President Carter, and it
echoes our sentiments:
“I urge you not to trade off lifestyles, livelihoods, and legitimate desires
of the people of northeastern Minnesota for equitable treatment in favor of the
vague and ill-defined interests of other, perhaps more clamorous constituencies
far removed from the BCWA.”

Constituents on the Iron Range or any other part of the 8th congressional
district should not be forced to endure these attacks on our way of life.
Mining is part of our past, present, and future and I will continue to fight
for our way of life at every turn!
Precinct Caucuses are Tuesday, Feb. 25

Minnesota’s Precinct Caucuses are just 16 days away. Republicans from around
the 8th congressional district will take part in the unofficial kickoff to the
2020 campaign season on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Check out my website’s“Precinct
Caucus” page <[link removed]> that
should serve as a one-stop shop for precinct caucus locations. Thanks for
joining me on the front lines of freedom!

Have a great week!
