We need to hold producers accountable.

John, our plastic crisis is at emergency status.

We’re churning out trillions of pounds of this stuff annually, and it’s no wonder — plastic is everywhere, from our product packaging to common household items like toilet paper.

And here’s the thing: Only about ten percent of that actually gets recycled. As for the rest? It ends up in landfills, leaks into the environment, or even in our own bodies.

Amidst this rising crisis, experts are speculating plastic production could still triple by 2060 — and for our planet, that would mean complete disaster.

We’re not at the point of no return just yet, though. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) just released a report giving us a roadmap for ways we can take global action, like production cuts on single-use plastics and promoting more reuse of the plastics we’ve already created.

Their researchers estimate that if we hurry to widely implement these strategies, we could reduce pollution from plastic production and disposal by around 80 percent as early as 2040.

Here’s where SEEC comes in.

Our Members know it’s long past time we end our plastic dependency. That’s why they’re putting the pressure on mega corporations in Congress to stop mass producing these toxic materials at such an aggressive rate and create more efficient recycling systems so we can reduce the health and environmental costs on our planet.

But we know that the plastic and fossil fuel (a.k.a. Big Oil) industries go hand in hand, and right now, our House is led by a majority that would rather keep these corporations happy than take action to protect our climate. Can you help us fight to pack Congress with pro-environment leaders in 2024 so we can end our toxic relationship with plastics by making a quick contribution?

Plastics have infiltrated literally every aspect of our lives. It’s not going to be easy to make these changes, but they’re absolutely necessary if we want to keep our planet’s future safe and healthy for generations to come.

Thanks to your help in 2022, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 118th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future.
