We've known long before Gov. DeSantis that racism is still alive and well in this country. The reality is that it's never gone away.
But now, DeSantis, who has enthusiastically supported racist policies, is running for president.
The fact is, Republican values and racist values go hand in hand. They court one another to empower and elevate the ideas that they hold near and dear. Instead of focusing on what's important for our collective well-being -- fighting for justice, ensuring Black Lives Matter, and ending police violence -- Republicans are focused on making it harder for Black folks to survive.
That's where we step in. We're not rookies when it comes to preventing racists from getting elected. If democracy is going to work for all of us, it must
include all of us.
The time is now for us to ramp up our fundraising, do some major planning ahead of the presidential election, and utilize our people-power to advance Black political power.
