Join Asian Americans Advancing Justice | AAJC for the 2022 National Poll of Asian American Non-Voters and Voters Briefing on May 31 at 2:00 pm ET/ 11:00 am PT!

The 2022 National Poll of Asian American Non-Voters and Voters (NPAANV) breaks new ground and builds on previous polls of Asian American voters by getting at the heart of what motivates Asian Americans to vote, how they get informed to vote, and what prevents some Asian Americans from voting.

From late November through early December of 2022, we sampled 2,800 Asian American citizens — including Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese Americans — using online and live telephone interviews. Our poll includes Asian Americans who were registered but did not vote in 2022 and Asian Americans who were citizens but were not registered in 2022.

Key Highlights
* While Asian American voters were confident that votes were properly counted in 2022 and continued to take advantage of different ways to vote, one in six felt threatened when voting.

* Non-voters were especially likely to mention concern for COVID safety (44%), scheduling conflicts (39%), and being away from home (19%) among the personal and environmental barriers they faced to voting.

* Among concerns about election administration, non-voters were most likely to mention long lines and limited hours (40%), uncertainty about where to vote (19%), uncertainty about voter ID requirements (17%), concern about intimidation and accusations of voter fraud (14%).
