• Busted: A bombshell report finds the Department of Homeland Security gave a $352,109 grant to a University of Dayton project targeting conservative groups, including The Heritage Foundation, which it included in its “Pyramid of Far-Right Radicalization.” 
• The grant was part of what the DHS called a high-priority Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention Grant Program. DHS doled out $40 million in 80 grants to left-wing groups. 
• The findings came out after the Media Research Center filed FOIA requests with DHS. 
• The documents show “that the government is colluding with left-wing activists, academics, and state and local officials in an active effort to target some of the most prestigious conservatives and prominent political, religious, and media groups in the country,” wrote Media Research Center president Brent Bozell in a letter to Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, chairman of a House select panel on government weaponization.

• “If foundations are expecting applause from the Left, they will be disappointed,” writes Jonathan Butcher, the Will Skillman senior research fellow in education policy.

Fake news: The debate between Republicans and the White House over raising the debt ceiling has been fraught with misinformation, most of it aimed at Republicans and repeated by the press. 

• One claim, that President Biden can raise the debt ceiling on his own, is “dangerous radicalism,” writes David Ditch, senior policy analyst with the Hermann Center for the Federal Budget.

Discrimination: Alliance Defending Freedom, which won an Innovation Prize from Heritage last year, just published its 2023 Viewpoint Diversity Business Index, which ranks 75 major American corporations on their support for religious freedom and free speech.  

• The results are damning: 63% of companies support legislation targeting free speech and religious freedom protections.
