John —

The South Sound community is home to Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM), one of the largest and most well-regarded military bases in the world.

That also means our community is made up of active service members, their families, and veterans — many of whom have personal experience with the sacrifice that goes along with their courageous and challenging work.

On this Memorial Day, we remember our fallen service members and their heroic actions. We are grateful for the families, here in Washington and across this nation, that have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.

As the daughter of an Army veteran who served two wars, I have first-hand knowledge of the sacrifices made by those who serve and their families.

To all of our servicemembers and their families: thank you for your courage and your sacrifice.

Let us honor the fallen this Memorial Day.

All my best,

Marilyn
