-- MEMORIAL DAY --
Today we pause to recognize the service and sacrifice of those who gave their last full measure of devotion to a grateful nation.

It's a debt we can never repay, but on this day let us recall their names, love their families who live on with loss, support the veterans among us and pray for the men and women standing guard around the world.
-- DEBT LIMIT UPDATE --
This weekend, Speaker McCarthy and President Biden announced a deal on the debt limit that bends spending, preserves vital programs, and grows the economy.

Details will be forthcoming, but I wanted to take this chance to update you on some of it's key elements.
BIPARTISANSHIP

From the start, I've pushed for a bipartisan agreement on dealing with the debt ceiling.

President Biden said he wouldn’t negotiate. He did and we struck a deal.

Bringing two sides together can be messy, but like it or not, Americans elected a bipartisan government.

Working together is how we move America forward.
We will avoid a default AND bend the rate of unsustainable federal spending because governing-minded lawmakers like myself demanded it.
HISTORIC FEDERAL SPENDING CUTS

Polls showed that an overwhelming majority of Americans wanted to rein in federal spending AND avoid a default. We did just that.

Commonsense tells you that when you're trillions in debt, you don't have a revenue problem, you have a spending problem.

We were able to help curb that problem, while still preserving vital programs.
SNAP/TANF REFORMS

Beyond spending cuts, identifying areas for savings was also an essential component of this deal.

Reforms were made to SNAP/TANF to find and eliminate any waste or potential savings in order to ensure efficiency.
I ran for Congress to represent ALL of New York 19 - and I'll continue to fight on behalf of all of our friends and neighbors, to ensure that all of us in Upstate NY have a voice.
