Delivering Speech About the Debt Limit
Talks on the debt ceiling have dominated the week, and I’d like to make two things clear: the U.S. should not default on its debt, but a “clean” debt limit increase is not an option. Our country has an out-of-control spending problem that must be addressed.
The current situation with the X-Date for default is a calculated political maneuver by Biden, Pelosi, and Schumer.
With over 100 years of political experience, they decided to create this crisis back in December.
Joe Biden ok’d their political maneuver when he signed the FY23 Omnibus appropriations bill into law on December 29th, 2022 – increasing spending in the Omnibus bill on a day when we were already at 99% of the statutory debt limit.
This is intentional. They knew exactly what they were doing.

Combatting Fentanyl
On Thursday, the House passed the HALT Fentanyl Act, making significant progress in helping us keep this dangerous and lethal drug off our streets. Fentanyl and fentanyl-related substances pose a serious threat to the health of Americans, especially our youth, through risks of accidental exposure, overdose, or abuse.
I live in Tift County, where local authorities seized enough fentanyl to kill over 270,000 people earlier this year.
Our county only has a population of around 40,000 people.
This legislation will aid us in the fight to keep fentanyl off our streets while strengthening our law enforcement with the tools they need to protect Americans from this harmful drug.
I am proud to support this legislation and further call on the Biden Administration to secure our border so we can prevent the movement of fentanyl and other harmful drugs into our country.

Supporting Education Choice
I support Americans choosing what education is best for their careers. Currently, 529 Plans allow parents to save for their child's education, but they can only be used for degrees at four-year universities and some apprenticeship programs.
Last week, I cosponsored the Aviation Workforce Development Act, which would allow 529 plans to also cover FAA-certified commercial pilot and maintenance technician schools.
