I want to take a moment with you today to recognize with gratitude the members of our armed forces who have given their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is an opportunity to remember the sacrifice they made, so that we can enjoy the freedoms we do today. Every day is an opportunity to stand up for the American ideals they gave their lives for.

In the memory of the lives we commemorate today, we have a responsibility to make sure we always strive to live up to the promise of our nation, even as we fall short.

Thanks to their service and sacrifice, I am able to live the life I do with my children in this country.

As I run to represent Idaho’s Second congressional district, I am grateful for today’s reminder that we can best honor those who have fallen by working together to make our country and world better for future generations.
