Hi there — 

Memorial Day is a solemn, powerful reminder of the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to our country. 

We must never forget the people who gave up everything to defend our freedoms. We must honor their selflessness, courage, and sacrifice. We must keep their stories and their spirits alive. 

As a veteran, it is a deeply moving, somber holiday. I appreciate that for so many, Memorial Day is a moment to come together with members of the community to honor our fellow American heroes. We join together to remember the fallen, honor those who serve and their families, and teach the next generation the value of freedom.

I am committed to my core to protecting the rights and dignities of veterans and Gold Star families. Because it is always the right thing to do. The honorable thing to do. The patriotic thing to do. 

These are not hollow words. They are a promise to veterans, their families, and the families of those left behind by our heroes, that I will always do what I can to give them the benefits, quality of life, and care they deserve.
