Team —
Every year, I make sure to remind my kids about the importance of this day. Memorial Day isn't just a day off from school or work – it's a day dedicated to remembering and honoring those who gave their lives fighting for our country.
Because of their sacrifice, my grandma was able to survive World War II, immigrate to the United States, and become the proudest American citizen you could’ve ever met. Showing gratitude for those who are no longer with us is important, which is why honoring those we've lost should extend beyond Memorial Day.
We should all be conscious of the fact that military action often comes at a significant price. That means America needs a smart, strategic approach to foreign policy. It means that when military action occurs, our nation needs to provide the training and equipment our service members need. It means we must do everything we can to bring each service member home safely.
Today, I hope you and your loved ones will join me in honoring the fallen. And every day moving forward, let's rededicate ourselves to protecting those who currently serve and the veterans who are still here, making us proud.
It's an honor to serve you,
Derek
