Folks, 

Today, on Memorial Day, we honor the brave Americans who sacrificed their lives defending our freedom and democracy.

Their selflessness is a debt that can’t be repaid, and the courage of these heroes must never be forgotten.

How we show our gratitude to fallen service members and their families matters. That means taking care of our veterans when they come home, and their families when they don’t.

I take this commitment to our service members extremely seriously as a member of Congress and am doing everything in my power to ensure they receive the respect and benefits they deserve.

I hope you will join me in showing appreciation to the service members who have laid down their lives — a reminder of the true cost of our freedom.
