On Memorial Day, we remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in
defense of our nation and our freedom.

As someone who served his country for over 40 years, keeping their
memory front and center in my mind—and in my heart—is what I do 24
hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Sadly, too many have forgotten that freedom is never free.

As I now serve our great nation in Congress, I continue to honor the
memories of the fallen by prioritizing the needs of our veterans and
those who served. And I will always work to protect ALL of America’s
freedoms from ALL enemies—foreign and domestic.

The sacrifice made by these patriots during our nation’s many fights
for freedom was not made for partisanship, but too many here in
Washington misunderstand the importance of patriotism. They also
misunderstand the sacrifice of those who were willing to lay down

My oath to defend our nation didn’t end when I hung up my uniform

has become on the national stage as we face threats from Russia,
China, Iran and others.
