Dear Friends/Amigos,
This week I was back in Washington advocating for all my constituents in the halls of Congress.
Our immigration system is broken, and politicians for too long have never presented us with workable solutions to keep our communities safe, grow our economy, and treat immigrants and asylum-seekers with dignity.
Since I became your Congresswoman more than two years ago, I promised to bring forth a solution that would put our country first, while recognizing our unique role in being the beacon of freedom to those around the world who yearn for liberty.
I promised, and I delivered. I am proud to announce that I have introduced a new, bipartisan, and complete solution to the immigration crises our country is facing.
The Dignity Act would secure our southern border, overhaul our asylum system, prepare our economy to compete on the world stage, and bring dignity to the millions of undocumented immigrants who live in the shadows.
Read below for more information about my #DignityAct, and visit the Dignity Act page on my congressional website here!
It is an honor to serve you in Congress, and please continue to call my office or visit my website to share your thoughts with me.
As always, I invite you to connect with me on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, to get the latest from Washington and from across our district.
Sincerely/Atentamente,
María Elvira Salazar
U.S. Representative (FL-27)

I INTRODUCED MY BIPARTISAN DIGNITY ACT!
|
|
This week, I introduced a historic, bipartisan overhaul of our immigration system that would solve the crises we face once and for all, the Dignity Act.
My colleague Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX) and I worked together to bring forward a bill that would give over $25 billion to our Border Patrol officers to effectively secure our border using the best technology we can find, in addition to the billions that will be used to retool and retrain American workers for the needs of our changing economy.
As for the millions of undocumented immigrants who have been living in our country, working, and raising their families among us, those here for 5 years or longer will be eligible for the Dignity Program. Immigrants who qualify for this program will be able to make good with the American people by paying restitution to the taxpayer.
The Dignity Act is bipartisan, necessary, and, if passed, will come at NO cost to the American taxpayer. The bill is fully paid for by the fee and levy paid for by the undocumented immigrants who qualify for the provisions in this bill.
For more details about the bill, check out our new Dignity Act webpage with further details here!
