Hi team,

Looking ahead to the 2024 Presidential Election, we at NILC-IJF are
laser-focused on ensuring everyone knows exactly what is at stake. We’ve
conducted comprehensive research into the extreme, anti-immigrant records of
leading Republican candidates and will be tracking their actions and rhetoric as
the race develops.

Before we get into the details, will you add a contribution to support our work
ahead of our end-of-month deadline on Wednesday? Every dollar helps us ensure
voters across the country know the threats Republican candidates pose >>>

[[link removed]]It may not be a surprise to hear that one of the most dangerous presidential
hopefuls is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis — who officially announced his
candidacy last Wednesday. He’s among the most extreme on immigration, with a
track record to prove it. As a congressman and now as governor, he’s supported
and enacted some of the cruelest, most punitive anti-immigrant policies.

As a staunch opponent of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
program, DeSantis has tried to terminate it through the courts and supports
deporting DACA recipients.

In August 2014, DeSantis voted in favor of H.R. 5272, which would have
prohibited a federal agency from using federal funding to consider a DACA
application.

In December 2014, DeSantis voted in favor of H.R. 5759, the “Preventing
Executive Overreach on Immigration Act of 2014,” which would have prohibited the
president from exempting or deferring undocumented immigrants from removal.

What else? DeSantis is clearly anti-refugee, anti-worker, and anti-business. He
backed shutting down the government to ensure funding for Trump’s wall, which he
wants to continue building. While there was ample concern that using E-Verify
would harm Florida’s agricultural, tourism, and construction industries, he
promoted its use. In addition, he has supported denying undocumented immigrants
driver’s licenses and in-state tuition at public universities.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, folks. It’s not hard
to imagine the horrors that would come with a DeSantis presidency. Here’s the
good news: We have the power to do something right now to keep him and his
harmful policies from reaching the White House. That power lies in dedicated
supporters like you.

So, we’re calling on this team to step up when it matters
most to help us build our fight against Ron DeSantis and GOP candidates for
president who are too extreme, too callous, and too out of touch to lead our
country. Please add a contribution now, if you can, to ensure we have the
necessary resources to fight back ahead of the 2024 election.
