Hi John, I’m Eileen Filler-Corn, former Speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates.
As the first woman and person of Jewish faith to serve as Speaker, I know firsthand how much representation matters. And when it comes to knowing the struggles of hard-working families across our state, my friend Hala Ayala understands them all too well — because she’s lived them.
Growing up, Hala’s family struggled to make ends meet. And when she was pregnant, her job didn’t offer health insurance. When her son had health complications, Medicaid saved their lives. From then on, she built her cybersecurity career while being a single mom.

Hala has a track record of delivering for Virginia families. Inspired by the 2017 Women’s March, Hala ran — and won — against a four-term Republican incumbent in Prince William County.
During her two terms in Richmond, she made good on her promises, working with both parties to lead the effort to expand Medicaid for more than 500,000 Virginians, to stand up to attacks on reproductive healthcare, and to strengthen background checks.
Hala will build on her track record as a leader in Richmond to get our Commonwealth moving forward once again, and I’m proud to support her candidacy for SD-33.
