Hey there, John — can I be real with you?
I have approximately 20,000 unread emails right now, so I know how these emails can add up. I understand that you may have more than a few emails in your inbox with asks for donations, so I want you to know that a real person wrote this email.
As Summer's Communications Director and Senior Advisor, I'm emailing you today because we're at a critical moment for our progressive movement in Western Pennsylvania.
Because of years of organizing and grassroots support, this month, Sara Innamorato moved one step closer to becoming Allegheny County's first woman Executive. If elected, she'll work alongside Mayor Ed Gainey and Summer to deliver change for working families.
This was only possible because of long-term organizing powered by donations of $5 and $15. That's were you come in, John.
Right now, we're tracking behind our goal to raise $15,000 by the end of the month, so we need the support of as many people as possible — including you! But according to our records, it looks like you haven't had the chance to chip in to support Summer and our people-powered movement yet.
I understand you may not have been in a position to donate before. But with our end-of-month deadline coming up Wednesday at midnight, I'm hoping I can count on your support today.
Summer already has a GOP opponent for 2024, so we need to start the work NOW to prepare to invest in TV, digital, and radio ads and defend against the millions of dollars in attack ads coming our way. I can tell you firsthand that what we raise in response to this email will directly impact the organizing we can do ahead of next November, so I hope I can count on your first donation.
Summer doesn't accept a cent from corporate PACs, so we're relying entirely on grassroots donations from people like you to hit our $15,000 goal by Wednesday's deadline.
Thank you,
Emilia Rowland
