Subject: What I don't believe about politics
John,
I don’t believe politics is entertainment. I don’t believe politics is building a brand or virtue signaling.
Ultimately, politics is about WINNING and about PRODUCING RESULTS.
So instead of writing you a long email about what I believe, I just want to show you what I've DONE in Florida.
Parent's rights have been increasingly under assault around the nation, but in Florida, we stand up for the rights of parents and the fundamental role they play in the education of their children.
School choice is available for all Floridians by eliminating enrollment caps and income requirements while still prioritizing lower-income families and expanding scholarships for students with special needs.
Florida is now the first state in the nation to have school choice fully integrated into the public K-12 funding process.
Florida is ranked #1 for education freedom and #1 for parental empowerment, and we are #1 in state spending on private school choice and #1 in school choice enrollments.
Florida eliminated Critical Race Theory in its K-12 schools.
In 2021 Florida created annual increases in scholarships for students with special needs and we provided $750 for transportation costs to the chosen school.
Florida has established robust civics education requirements so that students learn about the Constitution and what it means to be an American.
Higher Education Reform
Academia, writ large, across the country, has lost its way. In Florida, we’re changing that with a series of reforms:
Ending tenure by instating regular performance reviews.
Dismantling the monopolistic style of higher ed accreditation agencies.
Resetting the focus of higher ed towards preparing students to be contributing members of society, rather than imposing political ideology.
Ensuring students and staff are evaluated based on merit and eliminating so-called D.E.I. programs which are effectively programs based on discrimination, exclusion, and indoctrination.
China
Ron DeSantis has taken action to stand against the United States’ greatest geopolitical threat — the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). He signed legislation that:
Prevents Chinese entities or affiliates from buying farmland in Florida or land near our military bases.
Stops sensitive data from being stored on servers that might be owned by entities affiliated with the CCP.
Prohibits the Chinese influence that we rooted out of higher education from working its way into our primary and secondary education institutions, including a prohibition on Confucious institutes.
Blocks access to dangerous applications, such as TikTok, on government servers and devices.
Protecting Life
The Heartbeat Protection Act protects the most vulnerable: babies in the womb whose hearts have already begun to beat.
Defending 2nd Amendment Rights
Enacted constitutional carry that allows Floridians to carry concealed weapons without a government-issued permission slip.
Law and Order
Other states endanger their citizens by making it easier to put criminals back on the street. Here in Florida, we support and enact policies to protect our communities and keep our people safe. Governor DeSantis signed reforms that:
Strengthen pre-trial detention and pushed back against woke “bail reform” efforts Increasing sentences for drug traffickers that target children with dangerous fentanyl.
Subjected child rapists to the death penalty; while simultaneously reforming death penalty statutes to ensure justice.
Gov. DeSantis is also the only elected official in America to remove a “progressive” Soros-funded district attorney from office.
Immigration
The Biden Border Crisis has wreaked havoc across the United States and has put Americans in danger. But Governor DeSantis did not stand idly by while the federal government abandoned its lawful duties to protect our country, instead he:
Mandated immigration status verification through E-Verify for public and private employers.
Made knowingly transporting illegal immigrant minors a felony.
Made using a fake ID to gain employment a felony.
Required hospitals to report healthcare costs for illegal aliens.
Gave Florida more money to send more illegal immigrants to more “sanctuary” jurisdictions such as Martha’s Vineyard.
Prescription Drugs
Pharmacy Benefit Managers and Big Pharma have managed to escape the public eye and work in the shadows for far too long. Ron DeSantis signed a bill that takes the reins back from these healthcare monopolies while empowering consumers.
With the legislation passed this session, drug companies must disclose wholesale drug price increases of 15% or more.
Florida is also prohibiting pharmacy benefit managers from mandating mail orders.
Tax Cuts
Florida’s economy has consistently outpaced the nation, but we are still fighting against inflationary policies imposed on us by the Biden administration. In Florida, we supported our residents and help them afford the goods that they need.
We lowered tolls across the state.
We created a permanent tax exemption on diapers, wipes, baby clothes, cribs, strollers, and much more.
We reduced taxes by nearly $5 billion – a Florida record.
Legal Reform and Housing
As Florida’s population booms, we provided record support for Florida’s workforce to get quality housing and live the American Dream.
The Live Local Act dedicates more than half a billion dollars to incentivize and jumpstart new construction.
Hometown Heroes Program makes sure police officers, firefighters, teachers, and other community leaders can afford to live in or near the communities they serve.
ESG & CBDC
Ron DeSantis refuses to let elites circumvent the ballot box to implement a radical ideological agenda through financial sleight of hand.
Governor DeSantis signed legislation that prohibits the financial sector from considering so-called “Social Credit Scores” in banking and lending practices that aim to prevent Floridians from obtaining loans, lines of credit, and bank accounts.
And Governor DeSantis is on the record: NO to CBDCs or Federally-controlled digital dollar. Any proposal will be dead on arrival.
Let Kids Be Kids
There is a disturbing trend in our society to try to sexualize young people. That is not the way you look out for our children. You protect children—and Governor DeSantis has, by signing landmark legislation that:
Prohibits sex reassignment surgeries and prescriptions for children under 18.
Bans children from attending drag shows.
Protects students from having to “declare” their pronouns in school and ensures that students are not forced to use pronouns that are not based on a student’s biological sex.
Expands parents' rights in the education of their children by prohibiting classroom instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in Pre-K through 8th grade.
Protects young women from being forced to use bathrooms and locker rooms alongside biological males who have decided that they can invade women’s spaces.
These kinds of accomplishments are why Floridians re-elected Ron DeSantis as their governor by a whopping 20-point margin, turning Democrat strongholds red. We need candidates with proven records who can win—that’s Ron DeSantis. Are you ready to win big for ALL of America?
A native Floridian with blue-collar roots, Ron was raised in Dunedin by his mother, a nurse, and father, who installed cable boxes. He attended Dunedin High School and worked his way through Yale University, where he was the captain of the varsity baseball team. He also graduated with honors from Harvard Law School, where he earned a commission in the U.S. Navy as a JAG officer.
During his active-duty service, Ron deployed to Iraq in support of the SEAL mission in Fallujah, Ramadi and the rest of Al Anbar province. His military decorations include the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Service and the Iraq Campaign Medal.
Ron also served as a prosecutor in Florida, where he put child predators behind bars. He was elected to Congress in 2012 on a platform of government accountability, advocating for term limits and a balanced budget amendment.
In Congress, DeSantis spearheaded the fight to expose the weaponization of the IRS against conservatives. He also fought to hold accountable the rogue federal agencies involved in manufacturing the “Russia collusion” conspiracy theory. As a veteran, DeSantis was a champion for those who have served our country, pushing for reforms to the VA to better serve veterans and expand support for mental health.
In 2018, Ron DeSantis was elected the 46th Governor of Florida. As governor, he has fought for what’s right and taken the arrows for the people he represents. During the darkest days of 2020, when the corrupt establishment, bureaucracy, and corporate media united to force lockdowns and mandates on Americans, DeSantis stood up for freedom – even when it wasn’t popular.
Grounded in his unshakeable belief in America’s founding principles, Governor DeSantis has enacted a bold agenda to transform Florida into a blueprint for the Nation’s revival. Governor DeSantis has delivered win after win on conservative priorities:
Saving livelihoods from job-killing lockdowns and vaccine mandates,
Protecting citizens from the harmful impacts of Biden’s border crisis by enacting E-Verify and other bold policies against illegal immigration, such as banning sanctuary cities,
Defending parental rights and eliminating CRT,
Defunding DEI bureaucracy in higher ed and holding tenured professors accountable,
Waging war on woke power-grabs like ESG and central bank digital currency,
Enacting the strongest medical freedom laws in the nation,
Turning Florida into a model for election integrity,
Protecting the unborn,
Standing up for the 2nd Amendment by making Florida a constitutional carry state,
Expanding education freedom,
Prohibiting land purchases by the CCP and related individuals and entities,
Lowering prescription drug costs,
Holding woke corporations and school unions accountable,
Creating a universal school choice program,
Delivering record-breaking tax relief,
Helping families achieve the American dream of homeownership,
Supporting law enforcement and our veterans,
Enacting tougher penalties for drug dealers and sex offenders,
Appointing seven conservative justices to the Florida Supreme Court,
...and so much more.
After leading Florida with common sense and conviction throughout his first term, DeSantis delivered a record-setting victory of nearly 20 points in 2022. He earned his second term by the largest raw vote margin in state history, winning by more than 1.5 million votes.
But history didn’t stop there:
Governor DeSantis flipped Miami-Dade County red, winning the majority-Hispanic urban county by double digits. Conventional wisdom assumed this was impossible for a Republican – as recently as 2016, Hillary Clinton won Miami-Dade County by nearly 30 points.
Governor DeSantis flipped several other blue counties red, including Palm Beach County. He won 62 out of 67 counties overall.
Compared to his first statewide election in 2018, Governor DeSantis was up +19% with Independents, up +30% with Hispanics, and up +9% with women.
Governor DeSantis delivered a record-setting victory with battle-tested leadership, a bold policy agenda, and never backing down to corporate media or special interests. As he said at his inauguration: “When the world lost its mind – when common sense suddenly became an uncommon virtue – Florida was a refuge of sanity, a citadel of freedom for our fellow Americans and even for people around the world. In captaining the ship of state, we choose to navigate the boisterous sea of liberty rather than cower in the calm docks of despotism.”
Governor DeSantis has ensured that Florida is a free and safe place to raise a family. Thanks to the governor’s leadership, Floridians enjoy a low tax burden, quality education opportunities, and a xxxxxx in place against the Biden Administration’s overreach and various elite power grabs that seek to force people to adopt a particular ideology. Thanks to the governor’s vision, this year’s legislative session delivered the most ambitious conservative policy victories in Florida’s history.
This year, Governor DeSantis signed:
Record tax relief
ESG prohibitions
Measures counteracting the influence of the CCP
The strongest medical freedom protections in the nation.
Reforms reducing the costs of medications by delivering transparency
Bold higher education reforms; defunding DEI
Improvements to our state’s infrastructure
Tough-on-crime, law and order measures, including the death penalty for child rapists
The strongest measures protecting Florida from Biden’s border crisis
Reforms for paycheck protection , holding accountable wayward school unions
Prohibitions on centralized digital currencies in Florida
No leader has accomplished more for his state than Governor DeSantis. He is now sharing his bold vision with the country, leading a movement to deliver the Great American Comeback.
