Dear John,
It was a busy week, but I’m back to keep you in the loop on how I am fighting
for our conservative values.
As we celebrate Memorial Day, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the
sacrifices made by our brave men and women in uniform. Their selflessness and
unwavering dedication to defending our freedom deserve our utmost gratitude.
Our fallen heroes embody the values of courage, resilience, and unwavering
patriotism. Remember their sacrifice, andnever forget that we are the land of
the free because of the brave.
As a federal lawmaker, I refuse to stay silent on the travesties issued by
Saint Paul. “GOP Congressional delegation rips state legislative agenda” is how
KNSI described this week’s statement from me and my colleagues. We boldly
called out the state legislature for recklessly squandering a budget surplus to
push their anti-police, anti-gun, bigger government, and Green New Deal
progressive agenda in Minnesota. The governor and his allies have duped our
great state, and to rub salt in the wound, they're burdening us with a bundle
of new taxes to fund this radical scheme.
This is a friendly reminder that House Republicans are the only party in
Washington with a plan that will cut spending and keep America from defaulting.
Despite this, some Democrats are insisting on raising the country’s $31.4
trillion limit with no spending cuts or reforms. This is completely unserious
and a non-starter. Senate Democrats are even urging President Biden to bypass
the House and raise the ceiling using the 14th Amendment. It’s clear they want
endless trillion-dollar deficits and more inflation. The House has the power of
the purse, and we will continue to negotiate until a deal that protects our
finances is reached.
I’ll close this week’s update with wonderful news from the U.S. Supreme Court.
In a stunning 9-0 decision, they rejected the Environmental Protection Agency's
overreach under the Waters of the United States (WOTUS) regulation. Since I
joined Congress, I have been fighting any changes to WOTUS to redefine puddles
or pooled water as “navigable.” This decision is a victory for farmers,
landowners, and developers.
As always, please contact my office if there is anything we can help with.
Thank you for your continued support!
With gratitude,
