Friend, This May is Mental Health Awareness Month. The number of Americans struggling with mental health issues has spiked to an all-time high. In fact, the number of Americans reporting symptoms of depression and anxiety has increased by 25% since 2020, and children are reporting incredibly high rates of panic attacks and mental breakdowns. This means kids are going back to school experiencing intense feelings of sadness, loneliness, and nervousness. It’s enough to make any parent worry for their kids’ mental health! Thankfully, Future Forum Democrats include working moms and dads who understand what it’s like to send a child to school with all of these burdens. Together, we have helped sponsor the brand new Improving Mental Health in Schools Act - which aims to help our students overcome these feelings by providing more mental health professionals directly in schools. It is unacceptable that our students currently have to wait weeks or even months to see a licensed therapist at school. We have to make these critical, and potentially life-saving professionals more accessible to our kids. Our kids need us – and Future Forum Democrats are stepping up. Join us by signing on today. – Future Forum Democrats |
