Hunter Biden "whistleblower" won't cooperate with Senate probe
The GOP's much-hyped Hunter Biden IRS whistleblower has finally revealed himself to be Gary Shapley — and promptly began ruining any credibility he may have had by refusing to answer questions before a panel of Senate Democrats. Everyone knows REAL whistleblowers hate it when you ask pesky questions like "do you have any evidence" and "is anyone paying you to say this stuff."

VIDEO OF THE DAY: New Democratic star mocks Republicans to their faces
Jared Moskowitz made mincemeat of the GOP's astroturf outrage campaign over – wait for it – gas stoves (gasp!) during a 'heated' committee hearing Friday, calling them the "Grand Appliance Party" before easily and humorously dismantling yet another phony Republican talking point.

Texas approves bill to let public schools replace counselors with chaplains

Right-wing radio host and frequent Fox guest Issues chilling call for dictator
Popular MAGA talking head Jesse Kelly said the quiet part out loud this week when he tweeted, "This country needs a dictator," and "We are not worthy of freedom. A dictator is coming." Given the chance to walk back or provide context to his original tweet, Kelly wrote, "I don’t give clarifications. What I said is right there for everyone to read." When people tell you who they are, believe them!

Prison seizes thousands of dollars in wages from incarcerated workers
44 prisoners participating in a food service worker program that pays as little as .50¢ an hour were forced to return a total of $10,000 after officials decided the modest pay raise they had been given was invalid and reclassified the raises as overpayments. We're not sure what's worse – the seizure itself, or that any human being in the richest country in the world can be forced to work for 50 effing cents an hour in the first place.

Kids working in factories. Millions kicked off of Medicaid. Women stripped of their rights. Black history banned.

Chevron’s carbon offsets are mostly junk and some may harm, research says
New research by Corporate Accountability, a non-profit, transnational corporate watchdog, found that 93% of the offsets Chevron bought and counted towards its climate targets between 2020 and 2022 were too problematic to be classified as anything other than worthless or junk. At this point it's undeniable: these corporations cannot be trusted to tackle climate change, and the federal government needs ensuring they take proper steps to avoid a global ecological disaster.
Court monitor warned of issues at Border Patrol stations before girl’s death
Dr. Paul Wise, a pediatrics professor at Stanford University, issued a lengthy report in January specifically flagging custody conditions for children. He warned that detained child migrants held in medical isolation may be overlooked when Border Patrol stations get too crowded, which of course was ignored and an eight-year-old girl had to pay the price.
Biden economy continues to purr as updated GDP, jobs data beat projections
Newly revised reports on jobs and economic output add to a growing narrative that the current economic reality painted by hard data doesn’t match the negative trends many economists – and Republicans – have been warning about. The GOP's manufactured debt ceiling crisis could soon tip the scales the other way, but for now, at least, their long-predicted recession still does not appear to be materializing.
