Prayer Partner Weekly Update

May 27, 2023

"Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress."

– Isaiah 33:2

Africa & Europe

Pray for strength, grace and courage for witnesses and victims in court cases in Kenya. Often cases can take many years to reach a conclusion, with frustrating adjournments that can tire witnesses and deplete resources with the costs of coming to court repeatedly over many years. Pray for persistence, that they would not tire in showing up to speak the truth so that the cases may come to a just conclusion.

Latin America

Praise God for a training session for 32 police officers organized by IJM Peru. During this training, they learned about the psychological effects of violence on individuals, which will enable them to adopt a more sensitive approach when filing complaints and conducting investigations. They were also educated about the importance of prioritizing their own well-being to effectively assist victims. Please pray that God will provide more opportunities to impact those who interact with vulnerable women and children.

South Asia

Pray for a few of our teams in South Asia who are moving into new office spaces. Some of these are brand-new project areas, so this will be IJM’s first introduction. Pray for God’s blessing over all these spaces and the work that will be done there—that they will be safe, comfortable, welcoming and would foster community for our staff and justice for those in need.

Asia Pacific

Please join us in praying for five fishermen from Myanmar working with IJM Thailand. These survivors were rescued from trafficking in 2019 and have just finished their last day in court. Pray for these individuals as they return home to Myanmar, for the shelter that will support them and for justice as their case continues.

IJM Global Office & Partners

The IJM global office is located in the United States. IJM has Partner Offices in Australia, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, South Korea, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Praise God for The Faith of Gary Haugen, an article published in The Atlantic! This robust and inspiring feature recounts the steps IJM's CEO took 25 years ago to envision a world where all are protected from violence. We are grateful for this opportunity to reach new audiences through his story of faith.

The updates we share on survivors or their cases can become sensitive over time. To respect and protect them, please refrain from posting these prayer requests online.
