Learn more about what my office has been up to this week Dear john, This week marked one year since the tragic mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. As 19 families observed the one year anniversary of learning to live without their precious children, our nation continues to bear witness to this uniquely American epidemic of gun violence. We can honor the memory of those we lost to gun violence by taking action, because we are not powerless. Pictured above: Images of the 21 victims of the Uvalde, TX mass shooting On Tuesday, I joined with colleagues in introducing legislation to prohibit the practice of corporal punishment in schools. The Protecting Our Students in Schools Act of 2023 would establish critical protections for students to improve school climate and culture. For more information on this important work, click here. As we prepare to commemorate Memorial Day this Monday, my heart is with the nearly 10,000 Gold Star Families in Georgia who have lost a loved one. To uplift and honor those who gave their lives in service to America, I'm collecting stories from the families of America's heroes. If you are a surviving relative of an individual who died during military service, please consider sharing their story using this submission link. Thank you for taking the time to read this update. It is my honor to serve our community in Congress. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with my office.
