John,
The American healthcare system puts an unbalanced focus on treating the symptoms of illness at the expense of treating their cause. As I have said before, America doesn’t have a healthcare system so much as we have a sickness care system. Yes we need universal healthcare, I am clear about that. But we also need to ask ourselves why so many Americans are sick.
Until we ask why so many of us experience chronic illness to begin with – far more than citizens of comparably wealthy countries – then we will continue to experience unsatisfactory results in healthcare.
My Whole Health Plan [[link removed]] expands the healthcare debate beyond resources, funding, and out of pocket costs to provide greater opportunities for health.
The problem in America is not just that our current healthcare system fails to adequately treat sickness. The problem is our current economic system actually increases the probability of sickness.
Healthy food, healthy water, and healthy air are regularly sacrificed for the short-term profits of Big Food, Big Agricultural and Big Chemical companies. Meanwhile the average American works harder and longer for less money, with too little time and energy for health-enhancing activities.
As president, I will work tirelessly with experts and advocates to implement a whole-health approach to healthcare.
Please give what you can to my campaign today to help us win the White House and create a healthcare system that leaves no one behind.

In addition to pursuing a single-payer healthcare system and guaranteeing healthcare as a human right, under my Whole Health Plan, my administration will:
Proactively support health and wellness by promoting healthy eating and encouraging active lifestyles with more parks, walking paths, physical recreation equipment, and tax credits for gym memberships.
Improve air, water, and food quality with robust regulation and publicly funded research.
Incentivize regenerative agriculture and reduce the use of disease-causing pesticides.
End the inhumane practice of factory farming and overuse of antibiotics, which leads to increased risk of antibiotic-resistant infections in humans.
Prevent and reverse many diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, strokes, and cancers by empowering lifestyle changes.
Support the distribution of fresh healthy food to underserved communities.
Support full inclusion for the estimated 60 million Americans living with disabilities.
Treat gun violence as an issue of public health.

The American people deserve a healthcare system that actually serves, promotes, and protects our heath. As president, that will be my mandate.
