This Memorial Day weekend we are reminded that freedom is never free, and since the founding of our nation, Virginians have answered the call of duty to defend our Nation.

I ask that you remember their courage, their devotion, and above all, their sacrifice, and that all of us live in gratitude each and every day for the precious gift they have given us.

The First Lady spoke at Wolf Trap’s Early Childhood Arts Symposium hosted at Norfolk State University, addressing early childhood arts integration and celebrating how the arts engage children in meaningful experiences and help them develop social-emotional and critical thinking skills. A big appreciation to Wolf Trap and all the symposium attendees for their commitment to Virginia’s children and families.

Last week, Governor Youngkin, Lt. Governor Winsome Earle-Sears, and Attorney General Jason Miyares gathered at the Commonwealth Public Safety Memorial to remember and honor those law enforcement heroes that ran towards danger and paid the ultimate sacrifice. The prior week, the Governor and First Lady were in Virginia Beach to do the same. May God bless and protect all Virginia’s law enforcement officers and their families.

Governor Youngkin toured the Portsmouth Marine Terminal last week to learn all about their ongoing and future innovative projects. Their projects are giving Virginia a competitive advantage over other states.

This week, Governor Youngkin honored those who dedicate themselves to our country by serving in our military on Armed Forces Day. Thank you for your selfless service to our nation. America is free because of your bravery.
