John —
Since the fall of Roe v. Wade last year, we have seen state after state roll back our reproductive rights. In just the last two weeks, Nebraska and North Carolina have banned abortion after 12 weeks, and South Carolina banned abortion after only 6 weeks, before many people even know they are pregnant!
Earlier today a judge in South Carolina issued an injunction on South Carolina's abortion ban until the state Supreme Court can weigh in, but we know this reprieve is just temporary, and those seeking abortions in South Carolina, along with Nebraska and North Carolina, will continue to need our support.
If someone seeks an abortion before the cutoff date, Republican legislators in these states are doing everything they can to make it as difficult, expensive, and cumbersome to get an abortion — from requiring multiple unnecessary in-person visits before an abortion can be administered, to requiring doctors lie to their patients about the risks of getting an abortion, to placing so many restrictions on clinics that no Planned Parenthood clinic can legally operate (as in the state of North Carolina).1
Even when Republican lawmakers don’t outright ban abortion, they are making it as difficult as possible to obtain one. And it’s low income and people of color who suffer the most.
That’s why we’re asking Working Families Party members and supporters to show up for our friends in Nebraska, North Carolina, and South Carolina who now must contend with these new abortion restrictions. Will you split a donation between abortion funds and pro-choice groups in Nebraska, North Carolina, and South Carolina who are doing everything they can to help those seeking an abortion to receive the care they need? Your support is especially critical to groups fighting on the front lines of these attacks.

Republicans know that abortion bans are extremely unpopular — even in red states. According to recent polls, 65% of Americans believe that abortion should be legal in all or some cases. Only 7% believe it should be banned in all cases.2
For more than half a century, abortion foes have dreamed of the day that abortion would be banned in America. Our goal is to never let that day become a reality. In the weeks and months ahead, we’ll have more ways to fight back against these attacks on our reproductive rights.
