As our initiative grows, we also want to make sure we keep you informed about emerging dis- and misinformation – or DisMis for short – and ways you can support our efforts.
Taking down DisMis is no easy feat. It will take all of us to be well-informed and well-equipped to confront DisMis wherever it appears.

Since January 6th, disinformation has been driving critical voting legislation across the country.
Fueled by false claims of election fraud, Republican-led legislatures in states like Texas, Florida, and North Carolina began introducing legislation that significantly impacts access to the ballot. Limits to voting by mail and a ban on ballot drop boxes are just a few of these examples.
In yet another pivotal election season, our ability to respond to new waves of disinformation are already being tested. As disinformation finds its way to critical voting and human rights legislation, we cannot afford to dismiss this threat.

[Emerging DisMis]

Our team has been closely monitoring the news cycle to detect emerging disinformation online.

As disinformation impacts legislation on critical issues like voting rights, reproductive access, and LGBTQ+ rights, it will be immensely important for everyone to remain engaged and ready to push back against dis- and misinformation.

Volunteer

Since our launch, we’ve recruited volunteers to help us track and disrupt DisMis ecosystems.

Our volunteers were vital in gathering information on the Trump indictment and helping us get the word out about rising disinformation.

Our volunteer program will be vital in countering the waves of election disinformation bound to come in 2024.

That’s why it’s crucial we hit the ground running now. Will you join our ranks and help us prepare for new waves of disinformation?

Contribute to Fight DisMis

John,
Phil here.

As we approach our May end-of-month deadline, I want to reiterate the importance of supporting work like ours.

The George Washington Initiative has been forging a path to combat dis- and misinformation and prevent another January 6th.

Thanks to your support, our system to track dis- and misinformation is officially patent-pending.

And this is only the beginning. We know we can do so much more. Dis- and misinformation impacts everyone, and without a concerted effort to combat it, we will continue to find ourselves in crisis after crisis.

We hope you can join our efforts this year with a contribution to the George Washington Initiative ahead of our May end-of-month deadline. Anything you can give will continue to propel our initiative forward.

In solidarity with truth,

Phil
