Friend,

Standing up for Iowa taxpayers is my top priority in Congress, and that means standing against the Biden Administration's constant overreaches and overspending. This week, I voted to overturn two of President Biden's costly and out of touch rules.

President Biden's EPA recently issued a rule that would force trucks to meet stringent and unrealistic emissions requirements. Instead of getting more truck drivers on the road, the Biden Administration once again put their radical agenda above American workers in a move that would put small business truck drivers out of business and drive our supply chain further into chaos. I voted to nullify this rule and push back on this out of touch overreach.

Additionally, I voted to overturn President Biden's student loan "cancelation" scheme. As I've said many times before, you can't cancel student loan debt, you can only transfer it. It isn't fair to force hardworking Iowans who paid off their loans or didn't go to college to pay off someone else's degree. I will leave no stone unturned to put an end to this fundamentally unfair plan.

I will continue pushing back against the Biden Administration's costly regulations and working on commonsense, pro-growth economic policies.

Best,

Take the Survey: Debt Limit

For months, President Biden refused to negotiate on the debt limit and dug in his heels that spending cuts should not be attached to a debt limit increase. House Republicans passed legislation that would cut wasteful spending and implement pro-growth economic reforms like work requirements in exchange for a sensible debt limit increase.

As debt limit negotiations continue, and a default deadline looms, I want to hear from you. Do you think spending cuts and pro-growth economic reforms should be a condition of raising the debt limit? Take the survey below to tell me what you think!

Do you think spending cuts should be a condition of raising the debt limit?
Yes - let's cut spending and raise the debt limit
No - we don't need to cut any federal spending

Memorial Day Message

This Memorial Day weekend, we pause and remember the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives in service to our country.

While we will never be able to fully repay those who have served and laid down their lives, I will do my best to honor their sacrifice by working to ensure our veterans have access to the care and benefits they have earned.

We are only the land of the free because of the brave. God Bless America.

Expanding Child Care Access for Iowans

Improving access to affordable, quality child care for Iowans is a top priority for me. I am working with my colleagues across the aisle to help working families find child care and invest in our littlest Americans!

The After Hours Child Care Act

Finding affordable child care is all the more challenging for parents who don't work traditional 9 to 5 hours, like law enforcement officers, store clerks, emergency service operators, and nurses. That's why I introduced the bipartisan After Hours Child Care Act. This legislation will make expand Child Care and Development Block Grant eligibility for after hours and nontraditional child care to build upon existing programs or establish new facilities to serve Iowa families.

Launching the Bipartisan Pre-K and Child Care Caucus for the 118th Congress

This week, I joined my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to launch the bipartisan Pre-K and Child Care Caucus for the 118th Congress with my co-chairs: Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-01), Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR-01), and Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX-20).

I am looking forward to working together on policy solutions that will expand access to child care and improve early childhood education in Iowa.

Border Security Solutions

Securing our border is mission-critical. It is past time for President Biden to stop appeasing the far Left and stand with Iowans that want, and deserve, an orderly immigration system and secure border. Check out my latest op-ed on legislation I supported to secure the border and combat illegal immigration here and read an excerpt below.

"Republicans’ effort to restore the rule of law at our southern border is especially important now that Biden has allowed Title 42, a Trump-era border policy that enabled Border Patrol agents to expel illegal immigrants quickly, to expire without a mitigation plan in place to address a surge of illegal immigration.

As the public watched the situation at our border deteriorate in real time, the Biden administration did absolutely nothing. In contrast, House Republicans passed the Secure the Border Act, a conservative border security and immigration bill to address this devastating humanitarian and safety crisis meaningfully."

Eastern Iowa Honor Flight

I had the honor of welcoming veterans from the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight to DC this week! Thank you to our veterans for their service to our country – we are forever indebted to you.

NAIFA Iowa

I enjoyed meeting with National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) to discuss how we can work together to ensure Iowans are able to maintain financial security throughout their retirement.
