Friend,
Colorado is home to more than 400,000 veterans.
Michael’s goal is to make sure they have access, here in Colorado, to the care and services they need to thrive during and after their service. This is the least we can do for the servicemembers and families who have given so much for this country.
Here’s a quick overview of issues he’s taken on:
Veterans and Healthcare
Michael has pushed hard to ensure that veterans in Colorado receive quality care — for their physical and mental health. He supported legislation to improve Veterans Affairs facilities, co-sponsored and passed a bill to combat the suicide crisis, and made sure that our veterans in rural areas don’t get left behind.
In 2022, he helped pass the PACT Act, which expanded health coverage to 3.5 million toxic-exposed veterans. This was the largest expansion of veterans' healthcare in decades.
Supporting Veterans at Home
Veterans missing out on payments for education and housing because of wait times, IT glitches, or COVID-19 is unacceptable. Michael made sure that the Office of Veterans Affairs addressed these issues, and passed legislation to support them in the process.
He’s also championed a bipartisan bill to create support networks for veterans upon returning home. These hubs make it easier for veterans and their families to find employment, financial services, and behavioral health services.
Veterans in the Workforce
Michael worked to pass a bipartisan bill that helps train veterans and transition military personnel to work in clean energy, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. He’s also ensured that veterans have access to job recruitment and entrepreneurship training when they return home.
On Monday, when we celebrate Memorial Day, we’ll honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the armed forces. But we must also commit ourselves to doing everything we can for the brave men and women who came home.
Michael will never stop working for our veterans, in Colorado and across the country.
Thanks for your support in this fight.
Onwards,
— Team Bennet
