John, this is the longest email I’ll ever send you, but it’s important, so I hope you’ll spare a few minutes to read it through.

Since the launch of Defend Democracy PAC, I’ve been truly blown away by the support and enthusiasm from this grassroots team.

Together, we’re going to create real change for Virginia. Now that election season is really starting to heat up, I want to outline our strategy to elect Democrats across the Commonwealth.

Level the Playing Field

Virginia has some of the most laid-back campaign finance laws in the country, which Republicans have taken enormous advantage of in recent years. We need to prepare for the incoming flood of right-wing cash instead of getting swept away by it.

Organizations like ours have a responsibility to help level the playing field against the GOP political machine. That's why I launched Defend Democracy PAC as a state-level PAC, which gives us significant leeway to fundraise and invest resources here in Virginia.

Defend Democracy

Virginia’s democratic tradition dates back over four hundred years, but the GOP’s authoritarian tactics are putting our institutions under enormous pressure.

Defend Democracy PAC’s core mission is to ensure that democracy endures in the Commonwealth. We're working to debunk dangerous election conspiracies, protect and expand voting rights, and guarantee that elections are free, fair, and secure.

And most importantly, we're supporting candidates who share our unwavering committment to democracy, equality, freedom, and truth at every step of the way.

Support Democrats in Key Races

Republicans are aggressively targeting the vast majority of elections taking place in Virginia this year. If we’re going to keep up, we need to stretch our resources as far as they can go.

Defend Democracy PAC’s ethos is simple: Let the evidence guide us, invest efficiently, and don’t hesitate to innovate. That’s how we can effectively support Democratic candidates in key races and make critical inroads with voters across the Commonwealth.

But with all that said, we need your help to reach our May fundraising goal so we can stay competitive in what’s sure to be an historically expensive election cycle.
