John –

This week, I continued to debunk the lies Democrats are spreading about the debt ceiling. I also detailed my plans to combat the Mexican drug cartels and explained why I called out a highly-regarded medical institution in Texas for their position on “transgender care” for minors.

As always, thank you for your support. Now, here’s your brief:
WHEN DEMS ARE LOSING, THEY LIE
Democrats are really mad they are losing the messaging battle over the debt ceiling. Even CNN had a poll that found 60% of Americans agree with the Republican position in the negotiations—that increasing the debt ceiling must be paired with commonsense spending cuts.

The left is channeling that anger by doing what they always do: lie about everything. Their lies about the debt ceiling are more egregious than usual. Democrats claim Republicans passed a bill that would cause a default—they label our bill the “Default on America Act.” The only problem with that? House Republicans are the only ones in Washington who RAISED THE DEBT CEILING. We did it last month with a bill called the Limit, Save, Grow Act. Our bill raises the debt ceiling while reducing spending, making it easier to boost energy production here in America, and preventing abuse of our welfare programs. That bill has been sitting in the Democrat-controlled Senate for a month while we inch closer to a default.

Joe Biden waited 100 days to even negotiate with Republicans on this issue. And since then, the only counter offer Democrats have proposed is RAISING TAXES. This is after they already enacted billions in tax increases just last year.

Democrats are lying about these negotiations, their position is deeply unpopular with the American people, and they are the only ones to blame if we default. Don’t fall for their lies.
MY PLAN TO GO AFTER THE DRUG CARTELS
The Mexican drug cartels have control over our southern border and facilitate and take advantage of our border crisis. Migrants cannot illegally cross into our country without going through and paying the drug cartels first. The drug cartels make billions off our border crisis, and then use that money to fund their fentanyl business which kills tens of thousands of our fellow citizens every year. We need to take action to stop this.

Thankfully, House Republicans are taking this threat seriously by creating a new cartel task force in Congress that I will lead. This task force will be the focal point for all legislation to target these transnational criminal organizations. Here are some of the solutions I’ve personally put forth to neutralize this threat:

  • Authorize military force against the drug cartels.
  • Increase criminal penalties against anyone who acts as part of or on behalf of the cartels.
  • Target cartel finances and use the money we seize to fund border security efforts.
  • Penalize Mexican officials who facilitate or ignore the cartel threat.
  • Terminate foreign assistance to countries that don’t take action against the cartels (Mexico is a prime example).

These are just several examples of what we can do to stop the cartels from threatening our safety and sovereignty. Other members of Congress have proposed serious solutions to tackle this threat as well, and I look forward to working on a comprehensive legislative package that shows the American people we have a plan to stop the Mexican drug cartels.
WE NEED TO PROTECT CHILDREN FROM "TRANSGENDER CARE"
The leadership of Texas Children’s Hospital responded to the Texas legislature’s ban on “transgender care” for minors by saying it was “heart-wrenching” they would no longer be able to provide “high-quality” hormone “therapy” for minors.

This is extremely disappointing rhetoric coming from one of the best medical institutions in the country. Frankly I’m angry I even have to make a statement about this, but I feel the need to speak out strongly about this because it impacts the health of our children.

Texas Children’s Hospital has continuously provided exceptional, advanced care. I’ve worked with them closely in the past and they are staffed with good, professional practitioners. Unfortunately, their leadership has adopted an ideology that is unscientific and dangerous—providing “gender-affirming” care to MINORS. Maybe they were pressured to do so by outside actors or woke activists within their organization. Either way, this ideology has no place in an institution like Texas Children’s.

At least 16 states have restricted or banned gender surgery for minors, with the Texas legislature recently passing a bill to become the largest state to ban “gender-affirming health care” for minors. This includes hormone therapies, puberty blockers, and surgeries for children under 18 in the state. The timing of the bill’s passage coincided with news reports about Texas Children’s Hospital’s use of hormone therapy for minors, and child welfare investigations into parents who supported “gender-affirming care” for their children.

Children under 18 are not legally able to smoke, drink, or get a tattoo. We can’t expect them to understand the consequences of life-altering decisions like attempting to change their biological sex. Responsible parents should stop their children from going down this dangerous path before it even gets to a serious discussion about permanently altering the physiology of their kids. When parents fail to do this, it’s up to doctors to honor their Hippocratic oath to DO NO HARM and refuse to participate in what amounts to a pseudoscientific, pathological social trend with irreversible ramifications.

It’s sad to see that this ideology has infiltrated even the most highly respected medical institutions, but I’m proud to see that the Texas legislature is taking a stand against it and that Governor Abbott said he will sign the bill. Texas Children’s Hospital can save their reputation for world-class care that took them years to build if they simply have the courage to own up to their mistake. It’s not too late.
