NBC News: Food Stamp Change Would Hurt Kids, Educators and Advocates Testify (2/6/2020)

Team,

I wanted to make sure you saw what has been happening with the SNAP program: The Trump administration's latest policy change could kick over 700,000 Americans off of food stamps.

I've always said I will work with this President to get results for Utahns, and I will stand up to him when he is wrong. He is wrong on this one.

Tell President Trump: No food stamp cuts >> [link removed]

My faith and upbringing taught me what it means to care for your community. I believe in not just helping others, but empowering them. That's why this administration's efforts to cut food stamps for hundreds of thousands of hungry Americans -- including many children -- is deeply misguided.

Sending kids to school hungry is wrong on every level. This is not the way I believe we build a moral, successful world.

There is a lot happening in this country right now, and I understand it can be distracting for people in Washington and even across the country. But these issues -- the ones that impact the most vulnerable members of our communities here in Utah -- are the reason I began a career in public service, and I will never lose sight of that.

Please, I hope you'll join me in condemning these food stamp cuts in the strongest terms possible and asking this administration to reconsider before this new rule goes into effect in April.
