When I was sworn in as Treasurer of Delaware, I made a commitment to protect our state's finances and prioritize the well-being of our residents in every decision I make.
Today, as we face the possibility of a crisis if we don't raise the debt ceiling, I am dedicated to fulfilling this promise by taking proactive measures to prepare for potential delays or the absence of a decision.
Because the consequences of a default are so severe, we need adults in the room who won't blow up negotiations because of petty political games. That's how we've achieved progress in Delaware, and it's a shame we can't achieve that in DC.
It is time for them to set aside political differences and focus on finding a resolution. Playing politics will only hinder progress and deepen the uncertainty we face.
John, in the unfortunate event that a solution is not reached, I want to assure you that we have taken the necessary steps to ensure Delaware's ability to fulfill its financial obligations.
We have carefully developed strategies to mitigate any potential financial turmoil that may arise. These strategies provide us with the resources and resilience needed to navigate through these challenging times.
