Councilmember Trayon White's Statement on the Passing of Linda K. Harllee Harper, the esteemed Director of the Office of Neighborhood and Safety Engagement
It is with great sadness that I inform the Ward 8 community of the passing of Linda K. Harllee Harper, the esteemed Director of the Office of Neighborhood and Safety Engagement (ONSE). Linda leaves behind a profound void in our hearts and a significant loss for the ONSE’s family and the community it serves.
Linda dedicated her life to promoting neighborhood safety initiatives. Her recent appointment as the Director of the ONSE office focused on neighborhood safety and showcased her commitment to creating safe and thriving communities through collaboration and engagement.
I contacted Linda to invite her to attend our “40 Days of Increased Peace” partners’ meeting. She never responded, which was not like Linda. She was always responsive. Unbeknownst to us, she had been dealing with an illness, and it is truly disheartening that we were unaware of her condition before her untimely passing. We share your sense of shock and regret upon learning about her illness and subsequent passing.
Linda will truly be missed as this unaccepted loss will have a tremendous impact on our community. We offer our deepest and most sincere condolences to Linda’s family, friends, colleagues, and supporters. May she rest in heavenly peace.
