[link removed] [[link removed]] Hey John,

We’ve had another whirlwind week fighting for accountability and bringing serious ethics issues to light. Here’s some of our newest CREW pieces to browse over the long weekend:

By now, it’s undeniable that Donald Trump was the cause of the January 6th attack on the Capitol. According to our count, nine different federal judges have blamed Trump for January 6th, placing blame where it’s rightly due. [[link removed]] In fifteen cases overseen by nine judges appointed by both Republican and Democratic presidents, courts declared that Trump was the central cause of the insurrection.

We’re preparing to enforce Donald Trump’s disqualification from office under Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment. But January 6th accountability needs to go beyond Trump and extend to everyone who engaged in and incited the insurrection. We just laid out where exactly we’ve taken action on accountability for the insurrection [[link removed]] —spoiler: it’s all across the country.

CREW’s holding government agencies accountable, too, as our series of investigations into the law enforcement response to January 6th continue. Our latest involves never before seen FBI emails revealing that the agency knew that violence could play out at the Capitol on January 6th, [[link removed]] unlike the Secret Service’s claims that there was “no indication of civil disobedience.”

On the state-level, our newest commentary lays out the real weaponization of our government: campaigns to remove Black and LGBTQ+ history and material from public schools, [[link removed]] as seen in Florida by Gov. Ron DeSantis, among other states. Suppressing these voices in public schools undermines our ability to educate citizens, instills prejudice, and undermines our democracy.

In other news we’re watching, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton was just accused of several crimes [[link removed]] by a Republican panel, it looks like a federal indictment [[link removed]] for Trump in the classified documents case is coming very soon, and Trump’s business dealings with Saudi Arabia [[link removed]] are finally attracting the attention they deserve.

Here at CREW, we’re working hard to pinpoint exactly where our democracy needs protecting and where we need to focus our resources on fighting for accountability. We know you’re with us, and hope you’ll consider making a contribution toward our ongoing investigations and efforts to hold both our government and bad actors responsible. → [[link removed]]
