Fentanyl: The Number One Killer of Young Americans

Fentanyl is now the number one killer of young Americans — and stopping it should be our number one priority. This week, I voted for the Halt All Lethal Trafficking of (HALT) Fentanyl Act, which would help ensure law enforcement have the tools necessary to protect Americans from this deadly substance.

I also recently introduced two of my own bills, which would declare international fentanyl trafficking a national emergency, label fentanyl as a chemical weapon under international treaty, sanction traffickers including Mexican cartels, and work to disrupt the supply chain of precursors coming from China.

I'll never stop working to fight this epidemic and protect the lives of young Americans. Click here to read more, and click below to watch my interview with KBTX News.

Viewing the Afghanistan Dissent Cable

For months I’ve pushed the State Department and Secretary Blinken to allow Congress to view the Afghanistan dissent cable, in which 23 embassy employees voiced concerns about the administration’s plan of withdrawal. After I threatened to hold Secretary Blinken in contempt for withholding this information, he finally allowed me and Ranking Member Meeks to view the cable.

While the contents of the cable are classified, I can say that the dissenters were right — and the Biden administration should’ve listened. I am pleased to have finally viewed this document, but I firmly believe every member on the Foreign Affairs Committee — especially those who served in Afghanistan — should be able to view it as well. I’ll continue pushing the State Department to take this last step so we can produce valuable information, not only for our veterans and Gold Star families, but for our country. Pushing Back on Federal Overreach

This week I joined House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers and 149 other House Republicans in standing against the Biden administration’s radical climate agenda, which comes at the American people's expense. The Environmental Protection Agency's latest emissions proposal would force Americans into buying electric vehicles they do not want and cannot afford. This enforcement will disproportionally harm rural America, including Texas’ 10th district, since electric vehicles have a limited driving range. I will keep fighting against the Biden administration's overreach to ensure my constituents have the ability to choose their mode of transportation and where they spend their hard-earned money. Click here to read more about our work.
