Newsletter of the Goethe-Institut Washington

Dear Friends,

Please be advised that the Goethe-Institut Washington will be closed on Monday, May 29, in observation of Memorial Day. When we return, we have an extensive June program to share with you!

On June 9, we will host our friends at the Embassy of Indonesia for the Germany/Indonesia pairing night of EuroAsia Shorts 2023. Join us for an evening of great short films, discussion, and refreshments from both countries. Then, on June 11, our Jazz@Goethe series continues with the Alex Hamburger & José Luiz Martins Duo. We turn our focus to poetry on June 13, with an evening of poetry films and readings from Syrian-Palestinian poet Ghayath Almadhoun.

If you're looking for something to keep you busy this summer, why not try learning German? Our online summer course offerings are open for registration now.

EuroAsia Shorts 2023 | Germany & Indonesia

After several years of virtual and hybrid formats, EuroAsia Shorts returns this year as a fully in-person festival. In past years, we have been paired with the Philippines, South Korea, and China. This year, on June 9, we look forward to hosting Indonesia in our space, for an evening of German and Indonesian short films. The film program will be followed by a discussion, and the evening will conclude with a reception of German and Indonesian treats.
